We want to make a meeting place for innovation of Ukrainian competence and culture – A home away from home
Ukraine House in Norway will be administered and the board will be elected by Ukrainians with offers to all Ukrainians in Norway.
Ukraine House in Norway has a plan to contribute to the best for all Ukrainians in Norway, for Ukrainian organizations and individuals. We aim to coordinate the necessary contact with the Norwegian Parliament, the Norwegian government, and Oslo municipality. Together, we can contribute to promoting Ukrainian culture and competence for the good of all, including Norwegian society.
Goal:
- contribute to the fight for freedom and democracy in Ukraine
- focus on the need for a Ukrainian meeting place in Norway, Oslo
- make Ukrainian culture and competence visible to the Norwegian society and labor market
- establish a HUB where all good forces may gather for the good of Ukraine
– We feel the need to respond to the increasing number of Ukrainians coming to Norway, says Nina Svetlynska, chair of the preliminary project Ukraine House in Norway. She also say: – It is important to give Ukrainians who have protection in Norway a knowledge of democracy, transparency and anti-corruption, so that we can contribute positively to the reconstruction of Ukraine.
– There is a growing need to help explain to Norway and Norwegians what Ukraine is, and why it is so important to support Ukraine until victory, and we have learned that it was important to open a cultural and competence center for Ukrainians in Norway, something that would become a home for Ukrainian culture and competence in Norway for the best for the Norwegian labor market and society, says board member Iryna Oliferuk.
The initiators have dialog with all political parties in the Storting and the Ministry of Labor and Inclusion to describe the results of the preliminary project and discuss the possibilities for meeting a Norwegian need. The preliminary project has also included the good skills Ukrainians often have, and at the same time the need for labor in Norway. However many Ukrainians are not approved as workers, and this also applies to doctors and nurses.
Figures from Statistics Norway (SSB) show that in 2035 Norway will lack 28,000 nurses and 18,000 health professionals. There will also be a need for many more doctors. Calculations from the Norwegian Medical Association show that there is a need for around 3,600 new GPs up to 2035. This corresponds to around 260 new ones every year.
UDI estimates that there will be around 100,000 Ukrainian refugees in Norway by the end of 2024 – the 70,000 who have already arrived, plus 30,000 new ones during the year.
Ukraine House has been established in many countries in the world after the brutal invasion of the terror state.
We invite you to join this work and we also invite Ukrainians in Norway to be candidates to the board. Please make contact with us. The annual meeting will elect members to the board – all Ukrainians in Norway.
